Post Op Day 8-Escaped PCICU and pictures

Today we escaped PCICU! The plan overnight was to get out Keller's central line and they did.  They were able to get another access but he quickly sweated off the dressing and lost the IV.  He did end up getting the medicine for delirium but overall had a better night once he wasn't being picked on.

He was moved to a new room around lunch time and then to a different one after that.  We landed in a step down unit instead of "the floor" but we are happy here.

Keller, overall, is much better.  While he still cries a good bit he has had awake times without tears.  When he is upset he is not as frantic as he was a couple of days ago. Now that he is less "disorganized" when upset it is easier to see that he is having pain.  He wants to drift off to sleep but he just can't.  He will arch his back, grunt, and furrow his brow.  His night nurse is wonderful and is on top of it.  She has paged a doctor to see what other options we have in regards to pain medications.

Norah was able to see him tonight.  There had been a ban on kids under 18 and then Keller still had too many attachments for me to be comfortable with her seeing him.  We also were able to get Norah to the Life and Science Museum for a while today.  It has so much to do, even for little ones!

Here are some pictures from the past several days.
Loving on the boy.
After the EEG.
